• The day trip from Sharm-el-Sheikh to St. Catherine Monastery and Dahab takes place every day except on Sundays. A representative of Egypt Tripper will pick you up at your hotel in Sharm-el-Sheik by 07:00 am. You will enjoy a two and half hour drive in an air-conditioned car to St Catherine to visit the monastery.
• The St. Catherine Monastery is 220km northwest of Sharm-el-Sheik. It is located between Moses Mount (the Biblical Mount Sinai) and St Catherine’s mounts. It is a Greek Orthodox monastery and the oldest monastery in Christianity.
• This historic edifice is a World Heritage Site of UNESCO. St Catherine’s Monastery is still functional.
• Within its defensive walls rests an impressive citadel that is rich in significant historical and religious structures. The treasures of this great monastery include a church dated back to the 6th century and a library museum. The church is believed to be on the site of the Burning Bush. Besides ancient manuscripts, the library hosts a collection of religious icons, ranking second to the Vatican’s collection.
• After the visit to the monastery, you will be driven to Dahab for a city tour and shopping. Dahab is known as the Flower Power City in the Red Sea. Located beneath the Sinai Mountains, Dahab is a top diving resort of the Red Sea. Previously, it was a Bedouin fishing town. This attractive destination is the favorite of nature lovers and fun-seekers.
• Dahab offers a relaxing atmosphere you can sit and enjoy the view of the blue waters of the sea. It is home to numerous multicultural cafes and restaurants. There are shops along the boardwalk of Dahab. You can shop for jewelry, crafts, spices, and even T-shirts from these shops. And if you want souvenirs, you won’t find it hard to get one. You can’t visit this diver’s paradise without seeing a bit of the surrounding desert.
• You will have lunch at a local restaurant. The local Bedouin can prepare delicious meals. By 5:00 pm, you will be driven back to your hotel at Sharm-el-Sheik.
